How to Create a Livejournal, Join the Community, and Post or Comment

Hello, and Welcome! Here is a how-to on everything from creating your account to posting, commenting on posts, and posting pictures.

In order to make posts you will need to create a Live Journal account. To do this:

1. First go to www.livejournal.com.

2. On the right side of the page there is a box that says, “Joining LiveJournal is completely free. Choose a username.” Here you will select a name you will use to identify yourself. If the name you have chosen is taken, try adding numbers behind it like a birth year, anniversary, etc.

3. Then click “Create a Journal” right below.

4. Now you will need to fill out all of the signup information by entering your e-mail address, a password, etc. Your password has to contain at least one number in it. For the “prove you’re a human” part, just type the odd looking words in the box below them.

5. Then click “Create Account.”

6. You will then be brought to a page where you can customize your “About Me” section and write a little bit about yourself, or just leave it blank, choose what your journal looks like, etc. Just fill in the blanks and choose what you like.

Now you will need to join the Christ Community Baptist Church LiveJournal community. To do that, go back to the community forum at http://community.livejournal.com/ccbchurch and click on “Click Here to Join!” link which is located at the very top of the page above the picture header. Then, click the button, “Join Community” on the page that appears next.

To post an entry on the community, go to Livejournal.com and log into your account using your username and password. On the top left you should see your username in large letters, underneath that, click where it says, “Post”. It should say “Post an Entry”, and underneath that, “Post As” and “Post to”, for “Post to” there will be a drop-down menu with two choices, your username and the ccbchurch community. If you want to post to your journal, select your username, if you want to post to the community, select ccbchurch.

This is just like writing an e-mail, you enter a subject, and below it in the larger box, whatever it is you want to say in your post. Above the larger box where you write your entry you will see different icons. You can use these to add a link, an e-mail address, a picture, select bold, italic or underlined text, etc.

To comment on someone's post below each post in a blue bar it says, "Make a Comment", click that, type in your comment's subject (not necessary though) and then your comment in the larger box, and then click, "Post Comment".

To read comments on a post there first need to be comments. In order to find out if there are any comments on a post, there should be a number representing how many comments there are to the left of "Read Comments", which is located below each post in a light blue bar.

If you read a comment and want to comment on it below the comment there should be a blue link that says "Reply to this", simply click that and enter your reply just as you would a comment.

To post an image, click the icon between the one that looks like a person, and the one that looks like a CD disc. Where you see URL you can enter the webpage address of where the photo is. Or, if the image is on your computer, at the top where you see “Image Info”, “Link”, and “Upload”, select “Upload”, hit the “Browse” button, and select the image from your computer, then hit the “Upload” button, and then the “OK” button.
